Study: Solar drinking water disinfection (SODIS) in rural Bolivia

JanforGore
Approximately 2.5 billion people in this world do not have adequate access to sanitation, with waterborne diseases being the number one killer of children in the developing world. This was a project performed to test the effects of solar disinfection of water to reduce childhood diarrhoea in rural Bolivia. It is studies like this that hopefully will bring better health to developing rural communities where sanitation and access to potable safe water is a daily life and death struggle.

    • I've often wondered why people don't just have ultraviolet baths setup for water supplies. As far as I know you blanket any living thing with high levels of it and it'll die.

I'm 'kind of' certain its not a costly procedure. Just make it solar powered.

I know the next pool I'll be dealing with will primarily function with a UV sanitation system.
