Green Idea: electricity generating gym-compliant workout machines using biomimicking tech

...but there has to be some kind of economic incentive; companies would have to incorporate it into their practice somehow. Let's say a company has 500 people, and every day 400 of them spend at least 30 minutes on the hypothetical power generating machines (machines which, when combined, generate even more electricity, the way a supercomputer brings together smaller components to do big tasks). that would create how much electricity? companies who give back substantial power to the grid would be rewarded with tax breaks. Individuals with both mental and physical skills would be favored over those with only physical or only mental attributes. Natural Selection restored. Health would be all encompassing and self-bolstering, from individual to company to grid...

It was a kid's movie. In it these monsters come at night and collect the energy from the screams of kids in their bedrooms to power their world. I just thought of it regarding the power of human energy. I think it is a power we really have taken for granted.

    • Ummm... bicycles go fast because pedaling puts energy into the system faster than it can be taken out by air resistance and friction. There's no amplification of energy. The law of conservation of energy rules that idea out.

Televisions alone can consume 200-300 Watts, which means you'd have to burn 45 to 70 calories per second (with a 100% efficient converter) just to run a television.

Besides, most people at the gym use treadmills, which require energy to operate. But I suppose if all of the weight machines and bicycles were connected to some sort of grid then maybe you could have a self sustaining gym.
