The paper and timber industry's green certification for wood and paper products, SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative) is about to qualify as an accepted certification under LEED which has become the standard for green building certification. But SFI's lack of credibility and loose guidelines make it anything but green or sustainable.

SFI was founded by the timber industry; FSC was founded by a environmental groups. They don't compare. Read the article, it goes into depth and shows pictures of SFI managed forests and FSC managed forests. The difference is pretty stark.

How does SFI compare to FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)? From what I understand, FSC is supposed to be pretty reliable.
