According to a 2007 report on deadly chemicals in cotton, compiled by the Environmental Justice Foundation and Pesticide Action Network, cotton is the world’s most important nonfood agricultural commodity, yet it accounts for 16 percent of global insecticide releases – more than any other single crop.
