This is a concept car VW introduced at the Frankfurt motor show. It uses a 2-cylinder diesel engine to power a generator which allows the car to get 170 mpg from diesel. It's a tandem setup which is pretty cool, but I think a 2 person back seat would make it much more sensible. Check out the pics. This is what the cars of tomorrow will be like. Lightweight and aerodynamic.

    • What's fucked up, is that the American car company DODGE has had Hybrid Diesel Streamline vans in Europe for the past 5 years. UPS uses them.

    • I think... these 'futuristic' vehicles with their crazy
dimensions & fuel efficiency would be more legible
if only our infrastructure kept up with the advancement
these vehicles demand. As far as MPG is considered...
we've already been able to create efficient vehicles...

How many RPMs can i hit with this here diesel?

    • As soon as the Prius came out, I said, "Well, getting 55mpg on gasoline is cool and all, but why not do this same thing with Diesel, which gets 55mpg WITHOUT hybrid technology?"

    • Enough with "cars of tomorrow". They could have been doing these for decades. Certainly they could be going to production now.

Better yet do as was done with P.C.s come up with a basic open design and let anyone compete building what parts they can, holding the overall design steady.
