California state Gov reveals detailed plan for first leg of high speed rail

The California High-Speed Rail Authority released the much-anticipated "alternatives analysis," by far the most detailed view yet of how the massive project will forever transform the region from San Francisco to San Jose. The $40 billion bullet train will whisk passengers at speeds up to 125 mph along the Caltrain corridor and travel to Los Angeles, with service expected to begin late next decade.

Love it or hate it, they have decided to keep the high speed rail train going through existing neighborhoods the local CalTrain does. While there was a lot of outcry from the communities near by, I can't imagine the high speed rail trains would cause more noise than the clunky old CalTrain trains. If anything they will be quieter.

This is exciting news for Californians who are sitting on he edge of their seats waiting for the construction to get started, which could be as early as October of 2010.
