I guess that's always been the baffling thing for me about hardcore vegans. The closest the human race has ever been to pure sustainability was when we were using plants and animals to their fullest extent, and animal populations consequently became dependent on our predation.

Well, I don't "worry" I just try to do the best I can to go with vegan shoe options. I still wear my suede fringe booties--obviously I would prefer faux suede but I purchased them before I became vegan. So I'm just going to wear them for a really long time. My environmental studies professor used to say "if you're not going to buy a hybrid, keep your car for a long time and run it into the ground."

I wanted to love TOMS shoes but I can't. Not enough support and padding in the sole.
It's a great idea but not a great execution.

Maybe you should be the one to introduce glamour to Iowa! If the rest of the outfit is muted (like all black), you could certainly pull of the shoes without coming across as too try hard.
