Thousands of people will die from killer floods, droughts and heatwaves in Britain every year unless urgent action is taken to tackle climate change, the Prime Minister warned today.

In an apocalyptic message, Gordon Brown said that the world is facing a 'catastrophe' if leaders fail to agree ambitious plans to kill emissions.

With less than 50 days to go until the crunch meeting, world leaders remain divided over how to cut emissions. The Prime Minister has pledged to personally attend the meeting in a bid to break the impasse.
