Hey folks,
I actually spoke briefly to the mother of the woman who produced this piece. Here's the info if it is of interest: - 2 years ago

Objectification... why does that even matter?

CreditFigaro:
Why are you attributing someone else's word to me? All I did was ask a question. You can't deny that it is kind of sexist that this would 'sell' anyone over actually hearing the facts had they left their clothes on. Do you actually remember anything they said?

CreditFigaro:
I was rolling my eyes at the sentiment.
What difference does it make, anyway?
Sexism and objectification go in all directions and are an inherent part of our society, culture, and nature.
Is part of you an object?
The answer, undeniably, is yes.
Is another part of you your intellect?
Yes.
All I know of you is your intellect, your subject matter, and I understand you based exclusively on that.
However, that isn't all of you, now is it?
Is there something wrong with me for not understanding your physical self, as well?
No.
Why is there a problem with the opposite even though the subject and the object are both so intricately related?
Especially when the media outlet is almost exclusively a visual one.
I just don't get it: There is a difference between ignoring someones intellect where it highly relevant (a job interview), and observing physical beauty where it is nearly exclusively relevant (visual media).

Interesting.
You hit the nail on the head! White male. I guess that makes my opinion meaningless?
These people are being used... last I checked they get paid to do this kind of thing, and if they didn't they volunteered to.
These women are not anorexic.
Anorexia is a horrible, unhealthy disease that damages people's bodies. Being thin increases your lifespan and reduces the likelihood of getting age related disease.
It's not black and white.
The reason I am asking questions is because the logic doesn't make sense to me. You communicate that women are objectified... and I can't help but wonder how it matters?

CreditFigaro:
So, without addressing any of my concerns or points you resort to making an assumption about my upbringing and use that as a setting to make further assumptions about my beliefs, my intellect, and my ability to comprehend a situation when presented with factual information.
I would ask you a question, but I wonder if it would prove fruitful in the first place as you have already made a decision as to whether I have any intellectual value and, yet, you never addressed any of my questions in my other posts. (ironic, isn't it?)
You are not vindicated because you have a belief structure. You are certainly not vindicated when you cannot even explain that belief structure.
Thus, my problem with people like you and the ever appropriate eye rolling that I shall repeat.

Typical sexism of our society, isn't it? This is then supposed to tell me what? Because I happen as a woman to know facts and can articulate them with my clothes on, I won't get results? Sad if true.

nah. I see it more as a way to get the attention of people who would otherwise not listen. If you ask me, it's pretty smart. Sexism is a pretty stupid non-issue compared to the preservation of the entire human race, in my opinion.
What they're doing is getting attention in (UNFORTUNATELY) one of the last few ways left. If we're not going to work together on something this fundamental, then we'll never come close to putting aside our other issues... like sexism / racism, etc.
The sad part is that this is the only way to get people's attention nowadays. Anyone who claims we aren't or DID NOT descend from lesser animals is completely wrong.

limited coverage, or total nudity can always be a tasteful, yet convincing component in these things.
...reminds us of the naturalness that we came in and what the world was like before our advnancements came along.
