Farming First spoke with Chansa Chisanga, Programme Manager at FANRPAN, at FANRPAN's annual regional policy dialogue in Maputo, Mozambique in September 2009. Chisanga discusses the Comprehensive African Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP), which was set up by African heads of state to encourage economic development through agriculture. CAADP calls for governments to increase their budget allocations to agriculture, and it is based on four interlinked principles, which help farmers improve their livelihoods sustainably.
