Only Gnosis can save us
I agree with those who claim this. On the whole humans have become shallow, selfish, egocentric creatures who care nothing for anything but their own gratification. Not unlike many civilizations before us that fell because of these same tendencies. We say we must learn from the past in order to not repeat it, and then we forget to remember because it is too inconvenient to do so. We disrespect and disregard the wisdom of the ages and of nature that tell us everyday the secrets of and answers to lifes's questions.
We have become arrogant in thinking that nature is owned by us when it is we who are one with it. By thinking we alone are omnipotent over all other species we have now doomed our own. This arrogance is seen daily in everything from our polluted toxic environment, to our social ills, to our wars. And yet through it all we continue to claim that such abuses to the Earth and to ourselves are in the end for our own good. We live in denial to validate the very actions leading us to our fate.
In the Gnostic faith which I believe, the Earth we now live in and perceive is a great illusion perpetrated by those who put up these materialistic distractions in order that we may never know Gnosis, the true light. And in discerning this belief one cannot help but be struck by its relevance in today's world. We treasure money more than life itself. We look upon the powerful as strong and the truthful as weak. Our climate of discourse is one of self aggrandizement rather than self determination and caring for all. We seek to own instead of share, and look at disasters only as important when they land on our own doorsteps. In moral and conscious terms we are the antithesis to what the human in humanity should be imparting on the world. And yet, we wait patiently for "God" to save us. We even hook up large instruments looking for "God particles" to give us some meaning to life. And we are looking in the wrong places.
Is there hope for us? Will we collectively seek out the answers to the mysteries of the ages in the right place? Will Gnosis ever come? There are many references to the light, seeing the light, etc. in philosophic and religious writings down through the ages. Jesus Christ was described as "the light of the world." These are not references to be taken to mean that Christ is God, but to tell us he was the messenger to reveal how we can see the light that lives in all of us. Even our forefathers understood that and built Washington DC based on these mysteries and answers to finding that light in governance and the power and promise of man becoming God through the apotheosis. Of course, this means seeing all humans as equal and therefore is the reason why our world is now so out of balance. Our materialistic tendencies clouding the truth.
This is the key to hope for humanity. The simple action of "seeing the light" in ourselves and each other and in all that sustains us. And how is this done? Through simply seeing the world as it was meant to be seen beyond the distractions...a place where we live in harmony with nature, trust in its order, and see our interrelationship with it in nourishing our souls. This brings out our light, our divine selves, and brings us to Gnosis. The realization that we are the saviours we have been waiting for.

Well, since from my posts you know that I am big proponent of solar energy, you misrepresent my comment. I never stated all of technology was bad, but there is no denying that technology has also led us astray. It will of course take some technologies like solar, wind, etc. to help heal our planet, but to rely more on irresponsible technology and less on natural remedies will still leave our planet at a disadvantage. If you read my previous response I mentioned GMOs, geoengneering, chemicals, etc. as the types of technologies that have toxified and polluted our planet. There has been a lack of balance regarding our reliance on technology, or should I say, irresponsible technologies to fix our problems. We need more of a balance between technology and more sustainable holistic agricultural methods to address the environmental crisis we now face.

I misread you then! Yes I agree that there are some technologies that are irresponsible. I was only referring to the ones that help create renewable sources of energy or help with efficiency.
I'm just skeptical of the agriculture that you are referring to. Can you provide the same amounts of food to millions of people through those methods? Its not me you have to convince, its the companies who might profit less from it that we have to convince...
Everytime me and my family go to the market for food why is it that organic or naturally grown food costs more? Can organic farming sustain the growing population of the world today?

I think most people start out good . Babies are pure love . Where we go wrong is , we give in to self pity , helplessness and fear , don't ask enough questions . Life is a varied experience , both good and unpleasant things happen . It is easy to loose perspective and center your thoughts on what you fear , or are insecure about . It is easy to forget your power , because others try to deny it . Some actually enjoy the attention pity brings . They seek an external source of power , an external motivator . One that can justify wrongs with out being responsible . I will use Muhamed Ali , as an example of it's opposite . He was internally motivated , by his own integrity . These people are not exclusive to any religion . Neither are extremists . It simply takes a lot more courage to be a good person , than it does to be a bad one, or a follower . Yet this culture is dominated , by fear . We fear death , loss , things that are natural . This fear prevents us from truly living from our authentic core . Who am I and how do I want to conduct myself ? Only one can answer .

All belief is relevent, and in order to survive and be true you must whether you beleive or not, acknowledge that which you deem irrelevant, and take into your perspective all ways of beleif, and open yourself to all possibilities, Mary just leads the way, as her son did. It will take a greater thing than you and your beleifs and I in mine, to do what needs doing. And maybe , just maybe , through the Grace of God, we will succeed and pull this negative reflection into a more understood perception of the change that it is,
You are far too a valuable a person to feel unjustified in your passion, Your ability to find in your heart , the means to constantly inform us of the danger of companys like Monsanto and their goal, takes alot of caring above and beyond the call of duty, and for that you have won my heart, and it pains me to see you in pain, so you just keep fighting the good fight, and I will continue to read you first and let the rest go. Sustainable sustanance. - 2 years ago

So we should throw out Hydroelectric dams, Wind Turbines, and Geothermal plants because they are technology? How about Hybrid Cars? Or how about Solar panels? This is without mentioning all the other energy saving technologies out there.
Make no mistake about it, we cannot accomplish this without technology. The one option that we do not have available to us is to go back to the Dark Ages. I'm not against planting trees... I just recognize that it is not enough. There are 6 billion people in this planet and we're going to need more than planting trees to solve the problem.
And by laws, I mean individual countries have to take it upon themselves to fight this. The international community has no enforcement mechanisms, only individual states have that ability.

Sorry, but technology in many ways has actually destroyed our environment. Sustainability cannot come from a test tube as GMOs have starkly shown. We've already tried that, and it has now poisoned our world. Only through us finding it within ourselves to have the moral will to be stewards of this planet will we find the answers. Planting trees is not a pseudo science. Growing natural food is not a pseudo science. And laws while important are only as effective as the willingness of those to adhere to them. Without an enlightenment that also binds spirituality to science, we will remain in the dark. GMOs, geoengineering, toxic chemicals, and looking for technological solutions to crises that have only been exacerbated by them is not the answer.

Well Jan, if you are reffering to the need to save the environment and the global habitat we ourselves are a part of, then I agree with you. But I get the feeling you are also into this whole Gnosis thing. I'm not into any of this whole Age of Aquarius thing where people say we will reach enlightenment and a new era of happiness will arrive... I personally see it as pseudo-science. And if we are to combat the global environmental problem then we must do it with Science, Technology, and Environmental activism and laws... not pseudo-science.

It is a shame how some find reading more than one paragraph to be too much of a task, let alone being able to write one on their own that they have to add rude tags to people's posts.

We have only just begun to tap the potential of the human mind and the knowledge there that is the secret to the divine spark in all of us once we get beyond the distractions. From the Gospel of Mary: 'Where the mind is, there is the treasure.'
