Water pollution levels around the Athabasca River and its tributaries have risen because of emissions from the oil sands, a research paper released yesterday says, contradicting a view in the energy industry and the Alberta government that the massive mining of bitumen hasn't contaminated waterways.

Here is what mining petroleum from tar sands does.
It seems to me that to deny there is environmental damage is just plain ignorant.

I am sure it will spread to the Great Lakes as well. And this govt. is building a pipeline to send more of it here. This is criminal.
