I'll pass on large amounts of soy because it contains phyto-estrogens many other foods do as well (and plastics) and they tend to add up if your not careful. Sure I'll eat soy products every now and again but a soy based diet is not for me.

JohnII, that is where I was fortunate enough to find soy beans (called edame). Long ago I had purchased them in a can and also bought soy "nuts". Thanks for the comment and let me know what you think and what you find out. It sounds like a food worthy of research.
Take care & happy New Years!

Well it does and I will try to ween myself off the red-meat diet. It would be good for me because I could recommend things in my own dept. which is predominately natural and Organic...How convenient

I use soy milk for my cereal and smoothies. It takes some getting use to.

When I first tasted soy I could not stand it, but I'm going to give it another try. I used to be a salt fanatic, salting everything I ate and learned to adjust my taste there. I no longer crave salt, so it is perhaps just aquiring a taste...
Thanks for the comment and Happy New Years!

even though soy is a great alternative for people, its not the best for males who only eat soy. and its really bad for boys to be raised on nothing but soy. for some reason its not as bad for girls. but growing kids need protein.
but if you need to switch your diet go for it, just remember that the rainforest and all the ecosystems it provided for thousands of species of plants and animals is being demolished for soy and cattle production. sigh.... um yea ill find a link here in a minute. - 2 years ago

Idealist, I am sure no one would want to eat only one food. It is best to enjoy a varied diet. Thanks for pointing out the differences between male and female children and diet. Our country (America) depends heavily upon fast food and meat, which to our own downfall is leaving a lot of us with health problems resulting from (or at least contributed to by) obesity. If we did not eat so much red meat we would not suffer from so much high cholesterol, hypertension and cardiac arrest. I am not asking that anyone give up other forms of protein just that they look at adding soy beans to the diet.
Not only do Americans love fast food, but as you so kindly pointed out, we love to tamper with things. Thanks again.
Happy New Year.
