You think it's hard remembering to bring your reusable bags to the store? Fans of one London grocer have to bring their own reusable food containers, too! Do you think that this supermarket concept will catch on in our neck of the woods?

    • Eh, I don't think the germ thing is a big issue. I mean, people eat at salad bars or buffets, right? It's no worse than that, really. (I'm assuming some sensible precautions would be taken for things like meat, which need special handling, if those are sold there.)

I actually think this would be great--and more convenient than a regular supermarket! Cooking for one frequently means buying way more of something than I need...I'd much rather be able to buy just what I need than having to cart home, store, and figure out ways to use up a family size package of something.

Good point. I got caught up in the eco-factor of this grocery concept but totally forgot just how inconsiderate people tend to be out in the real world. Sneezing without covering their noses/mouths, touching things with their hands...I'm getting a queasy feeling in my stomach thinking about all the disease-breeding possibilities. Maybe package-free goods would work if the purveyor dispensed all of them from behind a counter (while wearing rubber gloves)? I don't think I'd have a problem with that...would you? Do you still think that would be too inconvenient?
