Ten Things You Need to Know About Nuclear Power

There are plenty of misconceptions regarding the use of nuclear energy. The American public’s opinion has been swayed over the years from events like the disaster at Chernobyl to Homer Simpson’s two decades of employment at the Springfield Power Plant. Years of concern over the misuse of nuclear power have overshadowed the potential of nuclear energy as an alternative to our reliance on carbon-producing coal and natural gas energy. Nuclear energy is not renewable like other alternative sources, but it is cleaner than coal. In fact, nuclear power plants actually produce less radiation than coal-powered plants. Here are the pros and cons of nuclear power:
