Here in Florida we know a thing or two about heavy rain, strong winds and the effect they can have on an umbrella. I can’t even count how many umbrellas I’ve broken over the years, either from the wind being too strong or from them being cheaply made and falling apart. Umbra Fisk from Grist.org calls this “planned obsolescence”, meaning our stuff is made to break. (How else do you think companies get us to spend more money on their stuff?)
However, you can take that now useless umbrella and turn it into a very useful and attractive tote bag.
