This is what I did for SPRING BREAK 2010!! March 21-25th,California, USA

A Group of 40 UC Students from all over California didn't go to Las Vegas, Mexico, or Go Wild for their Spring Break; instead, they did something that truly matters, and helped bring attention to the Massive Trash Island off the Coast of California. Its 1,000 miles off the Coast and the plastic and styrofoam that it has collected kills One Million Seagulls a year, and 100,000 Sea Turtles a year! With the organization called CALPIRG, which stands for (Califronia Public Interist Research Group), they went on a Road Trip up the Coast of California to try to get a ban of "polystyrene Styrofoam take-out containers". Starting in San Diego, CA they stopped at six local state beaches: San Diego, Newport Beach, Cabrillo Beach (LA), Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, and Berkeley Marina. With the last stop in Sacramento at the Capitol! At each stop they held Press Conferences and had Beach Clean-Ups!! On March 25, 2010, they reached the Capitol and held Lobby Meetings with California State Senators and Legislative Aides about getting a Ban on Styrofoam Take-out Countainers in the whole state of California!! This was a great step forward in the fight for cleaner oceans, and here is a great example of Students in California taking action to protect, and take care of not only their oceans, but their beaches!
