Hey bailey :) You can grow a lot of things in tubs. The real key is a good mix to grow in. We use Mel's special soil mix: 1/3 blended compost, 1/3 peat moss, and 1/3 coarse vermiculite. (We use a blend of 4 or 5 different kinds of organic compost from non-meat-eating sources.) The boxes we plant in aren't real deep, but we still have lots of luck. We have lots of peppers too. Looove peppers. But basil, cilantro, radishes, turnips, green beans, spinach, loose leaf lettuces, squash and zucchini all work well too. Usually, I try to grow tomatoes in a deep barrel, but i'm going to try them in the box this year.
Actually, we bought this book and went by it word-for-word. http://www.squarefootgardening.com/home
How deep are the tubs?

The wife and I are trying to grow in tubs. Because it take less water and the Cut Ants have a harder time finding the Plants. Do you know of any plants that do well in tubs? we have some Peppers and such. I saw what the article had to offer but I'm looking for some more.

I LOVE growing my own fruit and veggies. It's so rewarding (and delicious). Seriously, it is amazing how much better veggies taste straight from the garden. Especially green beans.
