Two farms quarantined after rare disease detected in beef cattle

Two farms in B.C. were quarantined by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency after three beef cows tested positive for brucellosis, a rare disease that affects wild and domesticated mammals. The disease was detected during routine testing at a slaughterhouse in the United States, which has placed import restrictions on cattle from B.C. while further testing takes place.
