Inspired by seventies lace and Jane Birkin, Emma Watson has teamed up with Alberta Ferretti to design Pure Threads, a new eco-friendly fashion line.
Pure Threads, which debuts this week, is a capsule collection of five pieces: two dresses, one shirt, a long, flowing skirt and denim short, all detailed with feminine lace. Each piece is crafted from eco-friendly materials, such as cotton muslin and hemp, and a portion of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to People Tree, a company that creates organic, fair-trade clothing while supporting the vitality of farmers and artisans around the world.
Not only is each piece in the collection crafted from eco-friendly materials, they’re also all packaged in eco-friendly materials. As Watson told WWD, “I believe this is a big step forward for all of the international fashion industry, but also an important step for an increased sensitivity to the problem of ecology.”
While I’m not usually into seventies-inspired collections, Pure Threads has a simple elegance that belies any missteps into a crochet-covered hot mess. Each piece is infinitely wearable, too, with soft, gauzy, slightly modest shapes that don’t bunch and pull, no matter what your proportions.
The capsule collection is on sale exclusively at Alberta Ferretti. To stay updated on the evolution of Pure Threads, sign up for their newsletter.
