To a man whose wisdom has left an indelible mark on my soul...
For all my life your example has been mine
Your words a foundation
Your love a comfort in a storm of inhumanity
Your teachings my focus
I see you not as an apparition I cannot reach
I see you as a man of emotions, desires, courage, faith
and steadfast love
A man who was aware of the world and its potential
Untouched by the hatred that blinds the hearts of men
Like a rolling sea that love rolls over me
As a constant reminder of my own humility
Empowering me with a strength of spirit
I did not know I had
Your words a door to the beauty and mystery
That is life and the universe
A beauty and mystery to never be taken for granted
And always respected
Because of your teachings
I do not need to look into the heavens
I look within myself
And I see the light to be used
As a beacon on a path of self discovery
Always knowing my place in this world
And the rare and precious life
Shared by all creatures
That discovery the true miracle
That no building, no ritual, no edict
Can replace
This Earth my church
Your words my song
Thank you.

For anyone who might be interested. This is a good presentation regarding the discovery of the Gnostic Gospels in Nag Hammadi and their meaning. Included as well is the relationship between Jesus and Mary Magdalene and the place of women in the early church (Parts 4-5 I believe.) Very interesting. Part 1of 9. You can click on the link to reach the other parts.

Your words are inspirational. I believe that if we all emulated him a little more the world would be a much better, more loving place.

I totally agree. And politics and those who use him for their own agenda have warped it all beyond recognition. Honestly, I wish all politicians on all sides would stop using him to get votes. He would not approve. They are the moneychangers of modern times and they haven't a clue to what he was talking about in his teachings.

Quetzalcoatl & Tezcatlipoca is my new group about visualizing and creating a better future.
I consider myself to be a gnostic Christian which is why I can appreciate the spirituality of aboriginal cultures who seem a lot closer to God than modern man.

Imagine 2012 By The Heretic
I likewise adore the Son of Man, sweet teacher on the Mount of Olives, by the Sea of Galilee, in the Garden of Gethsemine. I feel his great Spirit in Nature.

I'm convinced she was "the beloved disciple" of John's Gospel.
The story of Mary anointing Jesus with lavender, tears and her hair in front of the High Priest is incredibly powerful and underappreciated. It is still revolutionary! - 4 months ago

She may well have also been his wife. It was tradition for Jewish men of his age to marry. And I do also believe that is why the Council of Nicea left out all of those gospels. They did not want women heading their church and they also did not want Jesus to be seen as the man he was. If they could keep him "divine" only with them being the only way to salvation, this was how they hoped to control the masses... and it has worked pretty well for the past two thousand years. I think more people are starting to see the cracks in that as well.

Well, at the Wedding at Cana in the Gospel of John, Jesus is referred to as "the bridegroom" numerous times. That should give Christians a big clue but it doesn't seem to.
And according to Jewish law at the time it was required that a Rabbi be married. Several times in the Four Gospels Jesus is addressed as "Rabbi." - 4 months ago

Yes and in the Gospel of Philip I do believe Mary is referred to as his "companion" which was also a term used for spouse. And you are so right. I remember when I was a teen in confirmation class I asked my minister if Jesus was married. His reaction to the question was as if I had called him a mass murderer. I knew then I wanted to learn more and get away from that closemindedness. So glad I did.

JanforGore:
I think the entire problem is that Catholocism turned the Son of Man into a Roman god. Jesus was remade in the image of Apollo.
And Protestants still follow that model.
I became Gnostic in 1980 when I read the Gospel of Thomas (the oldest of all the Gospels). The verse that still resonates with me most is when the disciples asked him about heaven and when the end of the world would come."The kingdom of heaven is spread out upon the earth and men do not see it."
I catch glimpses every now and then and increasingly realize the importance of this statement. Heaven is not some future state after death or in outer space. It is right here all along. It's only the demons of our desires and distractions that prevent us from experiencing it.
Some of us see it. - 4 months ago
