Keith is a veteran Reconnaissance Marine that was honorably retired from the Marine Corps after his convoy was hit by a roadside bomb in Iraq. He suffered severe injuries to his left leg along with massive head trauma, but miraculously he survived. His friends, however, weren't so lucky and many of them were killed in action that day and even more passed on during Keith's entire tour in Iraq. Keith was in the hospital for many months after the incident, suffering from a multitude of ailments derived from the massive shrapnel wound on his leg. Doctors repeatedly told him that he'd never walk without a cane again...but they were wrong.

On May 16, 2009, Keith will be running in the Keys 100, a 100 mile ultramarathon starting in Key Largo and ending in Key West, Florida, in honor of those killed in battle. He is an inspiration to everyone that he meets as well as anyone that has suffered from a debilitating injury. He loved his job as a Special Operator more than anything in world - almost as much as he loved the operators that he worked with that laid down their lives to protect our civil liberties. If he could get deployed again, he would do it without question.

Every cent of the money he raises will go to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. This foundation provides college scholarship grants, along with financial aid and educational counseling to the children of Special Operations personnel who were killed in an operational mission or training accident. To make a donation please visit www.firstgiving.com/keys100.

    • What a great idea! The charity is also a very good one. I am so proud of the upcoming 100 mile marathon! Good luck to every brave one of them.
Look at how they honor their fellow people. These brave people do not run and kill and scream "god is great" while they murder people. These great Americans honor god's creations with no violence at all. Too bad others fake fighters have no idea what the real and only God wants, those other fools think that god wants them to be killers and rapists. What immature, archaic, twisted people!!! Those other "warriors" honor murder. We all know who they are. Those who live by the sword will die by the sword.
But our American heroes are really courageous and sincere warriors. American warriors honor good deeds and charity, not death and bloodshed.

    • "With Memorial Day around the corner, there's no better way to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for this country by donating to a charity as worthy as the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. YOU have the power to make a difference in the lives of the families who have been affected by the loss of these brave warriors.”

What a breath of fresh air this guy is. God Bless the Vets.

    • What a hero. Selfless people are getting few and far between. To see a man come through what he has and still remain positive is amazing. It used to be a common characteristic of being American but is falling by the wayside.

You go Keith! We are all proud of you and your cause!

Please watch the video because it tells such a wonderful story about a very brave hero who 'won't give up'.
