Seattle Police Brutality

KSirys
Seattle Police are investigating an officer for allegedly beating a man wrongfully accused of robbery. A video obtained by local news outlets, shows Officer Shandy Cobane stomping on a Hispanic man yelling “I’m going to beat the f*cking Mexican piss out of you homey. You feel me?” The man repeatedly said he had nothing to do with the robbery, despite being accosted by the police.

Police mistook the man as one of four robbers who stole from a man on the street. The victim of the robbery claimed that one of the men had a machete and took $40 from his wallet. Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn, in a statement, said “I watched the video and found it disturbing. Chief Diaz has informed me that SPD and the Office of Professional Accountability are investigating the incident. We won’t have any further statement until that process is complete.”

    • Of course, all this authoritarian behavior "from sea to shining sea", as Progresshiv said, is an outgrowth of the War on Terra. I expect things to get much worse in the future, unfortunately.
Sorry to be so pessimistic but I believe that it's a realistic expectation based on observation, not emotion.

    • He said he was sorry . They better keep him at an unimportant desk job , though , when he gets back from his suspension . Too stupid .

    • @KSirys (because Safari won't let me "reply") Don't you know that if you're a cop, beating the hell out of a minority just gets you extra vacation time.

This is sickening, no matter what the victim looks like. There really need to be higher standards when it comes to selecting our boys and girls in blue. A psychological test, or something along those lines, really wouldn't hurt, either, since it seems more and more like people are pursuing badges just to get a pass to do whatever they want.

    • I don't think some of these cops are getting their psyche evaluations like they should be otherwise this type of police brutality wouldn't be happening so often.

This is why I could never be a cop because I know how crazy and out of control I can get, so I would be shooting and killing left and right, which is why I stay out of the police force or the army.

    • I heard he appeared tearful on television saying he's sorry for what he done.

I think we need a national campaign to reign in the terror from our law enforcement officers. Of course we would be going up against very powerful lobbies like the Police Officers Association and the National Sheriffs Association, but I say "Enough is enough" its time they are all held in check. Abuse of power is unacceptable.

    • The neighborhood can do without "servers and protectors" like that. It would probably be better off taking its chances on its own.

    • "But Officer Friendly, Mommy told me to ask you for directions!"

"Shut your pie hole, maggot." Thud. Thud.

      "Ow, oh, no, please...."

      "I said SHUT IT!"
