Intelligent, beautiful dogs and other predators will kill and eat intelligent, beautiful chickens, calves and other prey if they are hungry. Or playful. It's not wrong or right - it's just what is.I do not condone killing dogs (especially in such gruesome manner as this article depicts!) and would never eat dog flesh knowingly. However, other cultures do. Humans need to eat animal proteins - at the minimum, milk and/or eggs - for optimal development. That's physiology, and it doesn't matter if we like it or not.

I have thought about my response to you and I want to apologize. Like many of us so passionate about animals...esp the domestic dogs/cats...we tend to go overboard. I used to love a great steak. But when I walk into the Publix and I see how numb we are to the cruelty of what is on display, it breaks my heart. we waste nothing....esp of the pig. you can buy its ears, tongue, dogs can chew on the hooves...it just makes me sick because some people keep these beautiful smart animals as pets and yet we cannot even kill them humanely. My son begged to go hunting with a friend when he was young (14y/0) I said 'no'. He thanks me to this day because he really is glad he didn't go kill something for fun. Sorry

People are born omnivores. That's biology, and you cannot get away from it. If you want to give up meat, dairy and eggs, go ahead - it's a free country. Just realize that when you do so, you will eventually lose bone mass and overall long term health. Vegans especially have bone density issues as they age - and mental challenges too, oftentimes, due to decreased neural myelination. Soy has been shown to cause decreased mental acuity taken over long periods of time. Is this really what you want out of life - or for your family?
Like it or not, humans were made to eat animals. Predator animals have no problem eating other animals, and prey animals know they will someday probably be eaten. It's life. The alternative is to not exist.

ok, you are right...continue to kill beautiful animals in the cheapest way. Dogs are so intelligent as are many animals , they have a soul which most Godless humans lack today. Enjoy your putrified meat in your gut

I was almost there anyway but this put me over the top. I am a nurse so I do have lots of nutritional knowlege...beans and rice, dark veggies, and the occasional protein shake I make with Soy. I gave up Dairy totally except cheese? I love Soy and hate the taste of milk. Finally have the husband on the Vegan train a little but men find it harder to give up their meat. And we have always love fish/shrimp so that would be hard. Thanks again for all your support. My grandparents lived very long lives. I think it was because he always had a small piece of land and could grow enough for them and some to give to family. The were raised in the depression and really did not have a taste for meat.EVERYthing on the table was fresh grown veggies, it was awesome. I have lost 130 lbs and changed my life. All my labs are superb.Lets keep spreading the news about this but we have a LONG way to go!!!

Just to let you know chicken are mean animals that kill each other. Humans didn't do this to the chickens they did it to themselves.

OMG. When I ran across this, I of course, feel deeply for dogs and posted it. But pictures are worth a thousand words. I am sickened because most of us think we have come so far. I buy 'free range" chicken only. Rarely eat red meat. Humans are the worst animals on so many levels.

Hateful... and same goes for the way US treats their animals... not only US or China many of us don't even think twice on what we eat... or buy how it ended up in our markets... how it damages the earth in the process and the unnecessary suffering animals, plants endure/d
I try to be true to my convictions (green, vegan... etc) but it seems so vain, we are so ugly inside... us humans - 3 years ago

This is a quote from the source web page, it shows substantially more persistent and systemic cruelty than any science lab.
"The locals believe the meat will taste better if, at the moment of death, the dogs are panic- stricken, electric with adrenalin.
So their death comes slowly. First a heavy blow to the snout with a rough-hewn truncheon resembling a baseball bat, then the dogs are left to absorb their pain for a minute or so, their cries curdling the blood of the other dogs in line.
Often they stagger up to their tormentors, tails feebly wagging, in the hope of a reprieve. But there's no mercy here. The beating continues at a torturous pace until the dogs, in and out of consciousness, finally succumb to the blows." - 3 years ago

I agree with animalia libero. It's easy to point the finger at other countries and cry when they hurt cute animals, but that compassion should be extended to animals here that are not as cute like cows or chickens.

Unfortunately these practices are common around the world in developing countries. Even in the united states. I recently watched a dateline story about a laboratory that would purchase pets from people for "Testing" there were individuals stealing family pets and delivering them to this lab for a horrible death. scary what people will do for a dollar. sad too
