Totally absurd, in many ways.
Only 24% adopt animals on the death list?! Isn't that sickening? They'd rather BUY from breeders than adopt an abandoned little creature.
There are oftentimes free spay/neuter clinics (and also low-cost clinics) held in various cities across the U.S.A., so the cost is no longer an excuse. It takes a very simple search to locate those.
There are specialized spay/neuter veterinarians who can do early spay/neuter.
The 24% who "just haven't gotten around to it" probably never will. They're too lazy and self-centered and uncaring.
And many of those lazy, uncaring people allow their animal companions (notice I don't refer to our adopted friends as "PETS," nor do I think we "OWN" them) to go outside on their own. That's a SURE way for the males to impregnate other animals (usually STRAYS) and that's a SURE way for the females to come back home with six or eight babies. Then what happens to all THOSE babies?! They don't get spayed/neutered, and the cycle continues.
Take on responsibility, people. You're the ones who have abandoned and dumped and thrown away and dropped off our voiceless friends TO get pregnant.
TNR! Trap, Neuter, Return the Strays! Trap, Neuter, Return the Ferals! TNR!
Don't BUY! ADOPT!
Spay/Neuter!
[In California, spay/neuter is the LAW!]
