    • This is indeed an interresting pod, but have some complaints. I've seen some great stides made to transition hip hop and rap from a cash cow to a majestic art form? My question to hip hop enthusiasts is, why is it that someone who listens to hip hop is considered to be listening to music which comes from the heart, but someone who listens to hard rock or metal or something, is just listening to angry music?? why is it cool to be aa black or hispanic gangsta kid, walking down the street all thugged out, wearing bling and crap, referring to women as bitches and hoes, saying it's cool to do drugs and beat up people, but if a white kid walks down that same street, wearing his punk clothes or whatever he's wearing, and he just uses regular english and stuff and not slang, he's probly going to get beat up? I'm not racist and I don't hate people who listen to hip hop or anything, I'm just know what it's like to grow up as a white kid who was into that stuff, in a time when it's not cool to be white, and frankly, I'm tired of seeing other white kids get beat up and jumped for listening to rock music or wearing punk clothes, or using regular english instead of slang, while hip hop and rap and being a thug is considered cool. and i'm tired of seeing women be disrespected.

    • Two friends/classmates of mine put on an amazing productions of Danny Hoch's "Jails, Hospitals, and Hip-Hop." It's a bold and honest one-man show, and more people should see it.

    • So interesting. That's something I've never really thought about before. I would be very interested to see something like this live.

    • Great Job man, I didn’t know that these guys were doing such great work out there. The pod documented well the artists’ peformances and the background interviews were very informative. It feels good to know that there is a generation of leaders in the art world looking out for Hip Hop. Great Job!

    • I thought this pod did a really good job of highlighting the theater and the actors without "selling" it. It made the performances take center stage. I enjoyed seeing this pod from such a street level view.

    • Interesting pod. Although there is no real strong character, the topic is character enough. The pod uses sound bytes to deliver information in a very straightforward, easy-to-understand way. After watching this pod I feel confident that I could explain to someone what hip-hop theater is. That is no easy task to do through sound bytes. Also, the b-roll of some of the different plays broke up the talking heads well and it helped me to see not just hear about what hip-hop theater is. I liked the subtle conflict of hip-hop theater's frustration with not being able to be accepted by mainstream theater.

    • I love this pod so much, I've watched it about 3 times and find it so encouraging to have theater for a generation and lifestyle i grew up with. Very good interviews and great BRoll! My favorite is how you introduced Hiphop as a character in the beginning and the theater develops as the pod continues.

    • This pod rocks. It doesn't necessarily center around a particular character, but is able to describe a genre of theater through those closest to it. All of the bytes are great. I love the quick cuts in the beginning and the transitions from topic to topic make the pod flow smoothly. I was never looking at the time bar in the lower corner because I didn't want the pod to end. I think this is a vital genre of theater and this pod does a great job exploring it and showing us what it's all about.
      Great job, John!!

    • Wow! I have never heard of this type of theater. You definitely brought something new to the table. The fact that you showed us many examples of what we could expect to see, really helped make this pod work. It was also great that you got other races and I think that's what people need to see, that hip-hop is a whole culture and not just blacks who perform commercial rap. I really love the theater's plan and I can't wait to see what they will bring to the table in the future. Capturing the moment of the performances really made me feel as if I was there. I also liked how you captured what went on behind the scenes as well. I would have loved to have heard from one of the youths who were in the beginning scenes. I really wanted to know how they felt about participating in it and how it has either helped/enhanced their knowledge about hip-hop. Great Piece!
