Although, I would have been skeptical if the man approached me in the street because usually fakes and stolen stuff are sold in the same way.

I've been approached by a man in a white van before, but he was trying to sell me a set of speakers. I politely declined, but commented on his guerilla approach to shifting his 'stock.'
I think if it had been art in the back of his van I would've had a bit more time for him. Art should be made by the people for the people, and I secretly admire the people who go to obscure methods to get their 'art' out there - from graffiti artists like Banksy to the man in this pod, Richard Reynolds, who showcases his creativity in a place where others can easily access it.
