La révolte des mannequins

Dark Roasted Blend today showcases a new mechanical marionette street theatre production by the Royal de Luxe in Nantes, France. This piece follows last year's "The Sultan's Elephant" and has been shown in Nantes this February to a great acclaim. As always with this company, the sets and mannequins are incredibly detailed and are part of the dynamic story, which takes 10 days to unfold.

    • In the Revolt of the Mannequins, 13 shop fronts in the city centre are transformed into theatre stages, where the mannequins perform a 10-day play. Every night, the Royal de Luxe team changes the positions of the mannequins, making the story jump to the next episode. 10 days, and 10 episodes per shop front, lead up to the final Revolt. The purpose of the blog at the link is to publish, day by day, photos of the 13 stages/stories, beginning with 'evil tale for other people's children'...
