The 8 teens involved in the Youtube fight video where 6 females and 2 males were involved in setting up and assaulting another teenage girl will be tried as adults according to a Florida state attorney.

    • YouTubeRobot.com today announces YouTube Robot 2.0, a tool that enables you to download video from YouTube.com onto your PC, convert it to various formats to watch it when you are on the road on mobile devices like mobile phone, iPod, iPhone, Pocket PC, PSP, or Zune.

YouTube Robot allows you to search for videos using keywords or browse video by category, author, channel, language, tags, etc. When you find something noteworthy, you can preview the video right in YouTube Robot and then download it onto the hard disk drive. The speed, at which you will be downloading, is very high: up to 5 times faster than other software when you download a single file and up to 4 times faster when you download multiple files at a time.

Manual download is not the only option with YouTube Robot. You may as well schedule the download and conversion tasks to be executed automatically, even when you are not around. Downloading is followed by conversion to the format of your choice and uploading videos to a mobile device (if needed). For example, you can plug in iPod, select the video, go to bed, and when you wake up next morning, your iPod will be ready to play new YouTube videos.

    • No I don't think its to sever...They desirve every second of it!!! That poor girl will probably never be able to trust anyone ever again, and not to even mention her face, and your worried about the other teens... no they should stay in there...what they will go thru in jail is what they need to get... Oh and by the way where were the parents, i mean come i don't really know about everyone esle but i was taught not to fight just to turn the other way, and yes i do, i got in a fight in 8th grade, the girl came up to me hit me one and i walked away and as my back was turned the second time she hit me again, i still didn't fight back, let alone start one... Anyway when i watched this it made me sick...how can anyone be so heartless... I would think that someone would have stoped it or let her go...they took this too far, who is to say that lifetime is too long...honestly have some common sense!!!

    • lwhi, I concur. When they get out of prison, they'll probably just come out wanting to do worse crimes. A judge can persecute them to the fullest extent of the law, which is maybe 15 years tops (I say this with no knowledge of law), but enough to get them into harder stuff.

What we should do is try to solve the problem so we try to stop people from acting like this.

I hated my school, but when I heard what the district did with the money Prez Clinton gave after the columbine massacre, i couldn't help but have respect for them. Other schools planted rose bushes or built higher fences around the school perimiter. Yeah. . . that'll solve the problem. Our school initiated a peer reasource program.

They're still young, they can still turn their lives around.

    • I just don't know how you can rehabilitate people that are this mean to the core. The prisons seem to be filled up with drug offenders at least as much as violent vicious criminals like these teens. There is little effort that I see to actually try and rehabilitate human garbage like this, other than the hope that prison life will. Unfortunately, if they get out after too much time, they would really be dangerous. I still would like to watch them get beaten pretty bad, maybe like a caning that hurt beyond bad, but didn't do brain damage, or permanent physical damage. More mercy than they showed this girl.

    • I dunno, it's not so much about having sympathy for them.

Locking them up for life isn't solving the problem - our prisons will become too overcrowded and people will continue to exhibit this kind of deeply anti-social behaviour.

While effective in the short-term, killing them isn't really very humane - and it's not going to help create a healthy, caring society. Personally, I don't believe in the death penalty full-stop.

Which leaves rehabilitation; I think that someone who's capable of this kind of violence is ill. I'm not trying to build a case for them, they don't deserve sympathy - but we need constructive ways for dealing with people choose to hurt others in such a deplorable way.

PARENTS SHOULD STOP BEING FRIENDS WITH THEIR CHILDREN AND START SHOWING SOME PARENTAL GUIDANCE. THEY COULD HAVE KILLED HER BUT I SAY IM GLAD SHE IS DOING BETTER BUT ONLY TYME WILL TELL. TO THE GUYS THAT STOOD OUTSIDE AND CALL THEMSELVES THE LOOKOUT CREW ........ YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A WOMAN BEATER YOURSELF AND U SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES.

    • I agree with huntre - the authorities must be trying to make some kind of example from them, life is a hell of a long time.

What happens if you take youtube out of the equation?

You get a fairly standard (though admittedly, particularly violent) gang beating. The people involved are listed in the CNN article as between 14 to 18, which is actually verging on adulthood. We're not talking kindergarden. Maybe I'm wrong, but imagine lots of teenagers viciously beat up other other kids - even in gangs - a lot, all over the world. and that such violent behaviour is probably not that new.

I think the things which make this newsworthy are myspace and youtube involvement - and that it was filmed.

I was brought up to believe that standing by and watching a fight in the playground is worse than fighting. It seems like the news media are at the side of the playground, taking bets. In the CNN article, the writer even goes as far as showing the reader which search terms are required to view similar clips on youtube. The layers of irony are dumbfounding ... CNN is actually helping to spead the idea of fight videos as a current part of society.

    • This wasn't just a "hey let's be teenagers and make a video" event. They severely beat this girl. They could have easily killed her. She has very serious physical damage that may never heal.
I say let them face whatever penalty any adult would face, even life. They lured her into the house and trapped her (they face kidnapping charges as well) and nearly beat the life out of her. These people shouldn't be walking the streets.

the most important thing is to know how these teens could have grown up so ignorant and lost. Probably their parents deserve more such a strong penalty ...

    • I intially thought this was a joke. I believe that these girls should receive a strong, yet reasonable, penalty for their actions. To suggest a life sentence is like saying to the world, "We will make these girls the ultimate example of consequence to put fear in the hearts and minds of Teens everywhere. This could happen to YOU!" Should they receive such a harshly overblown penalty, there may be a backlash of rebellion set in motion the likes of which can't be measured.

    • Good. Try them as adults. Cruelty begets cruelty. Their cruelty towards the girl they beat up will show them the cruelty of the judicial system. That'll get them reconnected with reality real fast. I'm suprised the prosecutor didn't add mob action to the charges. To me, this is a glaring example of what happens when parents let other things besides themselves do the parenting, plain and simple. Another thing that disturbs me is the voyeuristic nature of the crime. Even more disturbing is that there are people who want to watch something like this. Kind of a scary turn in society isn't it? I'll never watch the video, just like I will never watch the Daniel Pearl beheading. I know that's old news, but it's for the same reason. I don't enjoy seeing images of human suffering, and I just don't understand the psychology of cruelty.

Talking to children about gangs and how to avoid putting things on the internet for publicity. Just like moms against drunk driving, these kids face should be broadcast at least twice a week showing the country how their actions affected their life. They will be getting their 15 minutes of fame.

    • i blame are goverment for the way are children act today .
why are kids are taught at a very early age if mom and dad touch u (spank ,or sendsu to bed with out dinner or something of that nature),u can tell someone and they will investagate it and parents get charged with something they take to much control from the parents . But when a child dose something wrong then the goverment will push blame back on the parents .u know a spanking dosent hurt and dosent mess thier minds up and dosnt cause them to want to beat others. As far as i am concerned the goverment did this the goverment should fix it by giveing back parents rights.because are kids are way out of control. when i was going to school didnt hear about kids bringing guns to school drugs kids killing kids or blowing things up .thats because parents had control on us we would darn to do this kind of crap because if we did are parents would smack u up beside the head or send us to bed take are tvs phones ect.... way from us and that would be then end of it . i thank god evey day for my parents they taught me the diffences between right and wrong and how not to judge others unless i want to be judge by them.

    • There can be no greater or more productive punishment for these kids and those who take pleasure in or are merely indifferent to the suffering of others, than to awaken their conscience so they can fully understand and accept responsibility for the consequences of their actions. Throwing them into prison to be brutalized in the same manner as their victim may seem like justice, but even if they receive life sentences, sooner or later they will get out and then they will be hardened criminals, perhaps even murders. Give these kids a year of community service assisting the police who document child abuse. Have them assist the photographer who documents the injuries of infants and children who have been beaten and neglected, sometimes to death, or to work as file clerks for that department. A few years ago I worked in a photo lab that developed photos for the local police child abuse unit. If being exposed to the consequences of the most brutal and meaningless cases of physical violence doesn't arouse their dormant sense of empathy, enable them to feel genuine remorse for their actions and turn them around, they are beyond redemption.

JUST FIVE MINUTES ALONE WITH EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM AND THEN THEY WOULD REALIZE HOW MUCH PAIN THEY CAUSED THAT YOUNG LADY! ESPECIALLY THAT ONE IN THOSE PINK SWEATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! remember what goes around comes right back around it might not happen directly to u but it will happen to someone connected to u!!!!!!!!!!

The Sheriff's Department made it public, and it wound up on YouTube anyway. Judd recognizes the irony."

is the teen population really growing in stupidity to the point of more or less turning them self's in for violent and criminal acts?

The future is more dangerous than ever since todays kids don't have human guidance.

Generation are separated and no one talks to grandpa anymore. Have you talked to a teenager recently? They have a fantasy belief compared to the reality we live.

Look at the example of why adults and parents are to blame.

    • Yeah but remember these girls were between the ages of 14-17. Personally I don't think they are that mature to be tried as adults. Also her mother said "The victim's mother says her daughter has a black eye and several cuts." I'm not excusing the actions however whenever media is focused on a case it seems a prosecutor wants to go to extremes to save face politically.

I wouldn't be opposed to the weekend jail sentences imposed by courts completing maybe a 10 day jail sentence on saturday and sundays'. I am sure these girls know they did wrong, maybe a public apology to the girl should be noted too.

"sheesh its sad that our national mentality has been so warped that "throw'em in jail" is the best answer we can come up with."

ya'll are as bad as these kids, overreacting just like they did (and basically sentencing the younger ones to be victims of violence and sexual abuse for years), yea go feel good about your righteousness in locking them up.

Obviously not by a crew of lackeys but shite. Its young people biz. You talk crap you get your ass handed to you. The parent and the cop are twice as bad trying to get their media coverage, splurging generalisms and personal beliefs.

I think they should get a sit down and a warning, maybe community service. Let em work with gang members and stuff see if they think they can run with those people.. Hahaha America.

Truthfully, I don't think life is a fitting sentence, they just need enough for them to gain maturity. I really think the courts are trying to make an example out of them. This isn't the first fight that has been posted on the internet; and I'm sorry to say but it probably won't be the last.

But thank God, the victim did survive. When are we going to stop making excuses for our "juvenile's" and start giving them consequences to their actions.

Come on put your self in the shoes of the victim and her family. Would you want these people to just get away with almost killing you and then next Monday be sitting behind you in Chem Lab or worse in the caf. or recess.

This is equall to a gang jump-in, except she had no awareness of what was going to happen prior to her attack.

We all do need to police ourselves and think about questions of morality and ethics kind of on our own when we're growing up. Unfortunately... they won't be living normal lives anymore if they get a life sentence. The prison system won't really help distance them from that classist mentality... probably more like the opposite. Hmm. I do think a life sentence is a bit TOO harsh, however.

I wouldn't say life, but maybe 50 years.....That was a helluva beat down! don't know how many of you out there have ever been in a really good BEAT-DOWN....but I have and let me tell you, they could have killed that girl with the blows they were putting on her head and her body. She still may have major nerve damage for life as a result.

Secondly, I even as a young man would not allow a female to be hit or beaten. It's something you just don't do. The guys who stood and watched obviously had no guts and no respect for women. You've got to be DEAD INSIDE to stand and watch something like that and do NOTHING.

Also, this stems from the fact that these teens had no fear of the consequences what-so-ever. I would not have been fearful of what the law was gonna to do me. I would have been in terror over what my Dad & Mom would do to me. But these teens parents have never even been mentioned because they were probably the type that allowed thier kids the freedom to do "whatever" with no discipline at all. I think the parents should do time aas well.....What they should have been doing all along was playing that little game MADEA / Tyler Perry talked about in one of his movies called TEAR-THAT- ASS-UP!

    • I took my FIRST grader to school and spoke with his "teacher" when she graded his grammer incorrectly. He learned that people in charge can be wrong, sometimes but must still receive respect. Teachers must be more educated to teach our children. Yes blame the parents and the system of government that won't switch to a 17% flat tax, so that the poor and lower financial income level citizens who purchase little will be able to take care of their children instead of sending them off to daycare while they pay the "luxury tax" instituted by the socialist government years ago that was supposed to recind the "luxury tax" after the country got back on its feet. These girls should be made to work with victims of violence and their families for the next 5 years. By the time they finish their civil "repayment" they will have a meaningful background which they can apply toward a meaningful job. (Maybe they could be sterilized, too), no not really!

    • This is teenagers are just being teenagers. Why talk about jail? Girls that have a lot of energy and have social dilemmas, What ever. And why jail? This is nothing compared to using guns. North America has become a sensitive cry baby. NO GUNS!

    • If they're old enough to post the video on YouTube... they're old enough to get charged as adults... this stuff makes me sick.

    • This is sad, this is a result of technology? The absent mother & father? What happened to sending your kid to Sunday school & teaching them good values. Like love thy neighbor & forgiveness. The school system is being shut down. A lot of teachers lost their jobs in California because of Schwartzenegger, he required "old" teachers to go back to school & earn more credits. My husband lost his job & is now in charge of punishing students instead of teaching them. He was such a great teacher & built them up to believe in themselves & humanity, computer technology, what you need to survive in this world today. He, along with hundreds of teachers like this lost their jobs....This is the result!

    • I think they should get a prison sentence, maybe not life. They lured this girl into the house to beat her so that they could make a good YouTube video. I think that is a sign of worse things to come.... I am very happy that they are being tried as adults, their parents should be charged as well....
