I don't get it. All of these techniques can be done with a 3 dollar disposable camera or, like someone else said, any camera you beat to hell. If it's a style of shooting you like, that's one thing, but why have a hipstergasm over a poorly made camera?
I don't mean to knock it, I'm not against anyone finding some sort of atristic fulfillment, but this... seems like a half assed way of being creative.

I love my Diana!
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3310/3411779127_abd6eb67a6.jpg
I hate Lomography! I was given my Diana - no bloody way I'd pay £50 for one!
The creators of this 'photographic style' (is it really theirs?) may be young and fashionable but - with their 10 rules - come across as fifty year old suits trying to be cool and down-with-the-kids while raking in the cash from those gullible fools who, just two years ago, were carrying chihuahuas round in their hand-bag.
It's not photography - it's lomography.
It's not a photograph - it's a vignette.
It seems propaganda is still going on well with russia - oh wait, they're Austrian! And it's Lomoganda! - 4 years ago

nice job! i am a big fan of lomo's and holga's. i even used them in an art exhibit because of how great they are with color as well as general voyeurism...

The first camera I owned came from sending in cereal box tops and was just like this one -- used film, had no settings, took incredible pictures. I'm glad people are rediscovering the original photography method was essentially a pinhole camera and film.

I registered just to say that I felt Current had violated my trust with this film. While I'll give the benefit of a doubt that the intent of the video MAYBE was to do a counter-culture art piece, in reality it smacks of a huge commercial for Lomography. It was LITERALLY as if I was force fed the marketing right off the official website for Lomography in this video.
The Lomography Society is nothing more than a slick marketing front for the international distributor of these cameras, who buy the cameras then jack up the prices to an insane $250 USD! These cameras are $30 USD in the former USSR!
The "philosophy" behind Lomography has been around for ages. It's called shooting for the hip and requires no artistic training. And if you really are dying for the effects a really horrid camera like the LOMO LC-A produces, there are free plug-ins for GIMP and Photoshop on the net that reproduce the effect. Or you could just beat the hell out of an old camera you already have until it starts leaking light and the lens is jacked up.
The fact that this infomercial was given airtime over a real art news article makes me lose faith in Current's ability to give unbiased reporting.

Jesus Christ this hipster shit almost made me vomit. Is this for real, are you all real? I can't believe so many of you take Lomo this seriously. It's not a life style, it's a type of camera -- a shitty camera. Can someone confirm this isn't some horrible marketing scam?
Fuck.

Saw this video on TV and made a login for the website just so that I could post a response. I dig it, and plan on using this as a topic in my speech class to introduce my mates to this nifty hobby.
I think the appeal is that it's something interesting that anyone with one working eye and one working finger (or maybe not even that much) can do.

This is so awesome, I'm so excited to try it!
I got out and toyed around with one of my mom's old cameras and it had some pretty neat outcomes.
But I'm so excited to try my hand at lomography that I'm asking for one of the cameras for Christmas.
Does anyone have any suggestions? - 4 years ago

Lomography reminds me of paintings that look like they're done by a child and are regarded as remarkable works of art.

This looks awesome, i do just that, point, shoot, look at them later. However my digital camera is a bit bulky. and meant more for settings and such.
I'm definitely looking into one of these cameras right now.

LOMO love - bring it on.
There used to be a Lomo shop in London back in the day, gutted when it closed down...They also sold me a Kalimar which is a 16 lense beauty..!
Love the intrigue you get when wondering what the film will produce / if it will turn out - great in this instant digital age..also try using slide film for some serious colour saturation - though beware the processing costs !!!
Plenty of other bits on Lomo if you search on current.com

I love my Diana camera, especially the unpredictable nature of plastic cameras and the color.
Here are a few pictures from my first roll of film with my Diana.

Wow, I love this movement. I agree with the Lomo rules for photography in general: posed photographs can be so boring!
Also, trying to capture a "pinpoint" tends to be quite difficult, which brings out the best in any artist. With limited exposures in a roll of film, I tend to want to think more about each shot, but at the same time one must have reflexes like a rabbit to catch the moments.
The quick shots also tend to capture a limited perspective, which creates photos that have a lot of personality and magnetism.
Also, this reminds me of disposable cameras!

Here's a great site by the way that has all the Soviet cameras and their history including all the Lomos!
The Lomo LC-A is the only Soviet camera in this video the rest are actually Chinese even though they are called "Lomo"...

Not just Lomo's, toycameras in general are very fun to play with.
It's nice to have a second hand one, which does have little holes in it from cracks etc. so your film gets overexposure from light and features some funky, random effects.
The pricetag of Lomo models has been increasing lately due to demand, but there are some second hand jewels to be found online. - 4 years ago
