Check it out- a CNN gallery of some of the world's ugliest buildings. I don't think some of them are half bad ...

    • A lot of those buildings are pioneering architectural pieces. It is nice to see some variety nowadays. The current British architectural standard is terrible.
Everything looks the same and does feature the 'student apartment' look. It seems like they are trying to imitate the early modernism style but pep it up a bit (Massive fail).

Half of the northern cities do look like that now (see picture link) or will look like that in the near future. Shocking.

I've been to the Bullring a couple of times and am always impressed be its sheer size and looks.

The O2 area isn't bad too but is coined by a bad reputation from the past.

I'm talking from a German perspective here though. I'm used to seeing excellent architecture, when I was still living in Germany. Now I'm just shocked by the cheap imitates and rubbish build quality (I can tell, I live in a Barrat's build flat).

    • it seems a little unfair to have the dome so high up there - I mean, structurally it's actually not all that bad, it's just what was inside it that was a disappointment.

some of the others are rather dubious too - i mean, Buckingham Palace 'could have been built by Stalin'? Had that critic *seen* any real Soviet buildings?

    • Palace of the Parliment looks alright. The Birmingham Bullring looks rather strange and more like a shopping mall for BDSM.
