Woman defends giving piercings to 'goth kittens'

A woman who has been giving kittens ear, neck and tail-piercings and selling them on the internet as "gothic kittens" has defended her actions on the grounds that she did not see any difference between piercing a cat and piercing a human being.

She has been charged with animal cruelty after her home was raided following a tip off from animal rights group Peta, but claims the cats' 14-gauge piercings through their ears, submission rings in their necks and docked tails were not done with "cruel intentions".

"My name's ruined, my reputation's ruined and my business is ruined," she said.

Also several kittens' lives ruined for being turned into fashion accessories. Disgusting.

    • wrong. Nothing is wrong with that stuff but the cat's didn't have a choice. It's ears should not be weighed down like that.

    • This is wrong. I've seen it before. Even if you didn't have the intentions of animal cruelty, you should still have enough common sense not to do it. I'm glad that she was charged for it.
      Stupid things like this need to end.

    • to be honest burning off dogs tails is worse than this but it is not cracked down on by the RSPCA?

      i believe they are both wrong but i hope this raises some more issues on what appearance altering techniques people impose onto defenseless animals!
