NYC hotel room with a view... from the street

A couple on holiday in NYC recently learned that most "free hotel room" offers are too good to be true. The pair were offered a complimentary stay at the plush Roger Smith Hotel, in a ground floor room with windows facing on to the street. And as a condition of their free stay, they had to keep the curtains opened until 7:30pm for passing pedestrians and motorists to peer in.

Apparently the room was actually a replica of room 501 and was built to show off the Manhattan hotel as part of Real Live Billboards, which stages live events for advertising and promotional purposes.
