Fear of Furniture

alexchappel
An animated documentary about the anguish of buying furniture. The protagonist aches at the idea of buying his first table for his first flat after getting his first job (as a teacher) as he sees it as a symbol of submission into a life of drudgery.

    • i LIKE THIS!
Great animation, like the image-overload feel, very contemporary, lovely theme and execution.
      Well done!

    • i've never had "the horn" over a desk...The biggest durable consumer good i've ever bought is a wood burning stove, which i love. Although i do remember having to buy a white rug for my wife in Habitat one day. I knew it was a bad idea, a white rug?!

    • I sit on desks(all of them) every day. Long (well maybe not long) legs crossed. I make eye contact. My person picks me up and kisses my head and puts me ever so lovingly...in their arms, lap, bed, floor, papers. Then when that doesn't work,(my mistake) they boot me out the front door, side door, back door (it's 20 below 0)and I shiver....shiver....whine...cry and have the neighbors call to make sure I get in the house. Alright there it is! That sweet, smiling face and the arms that reach down, pick me back up and kiss me again and thankfully I am back in their arms .
