A Chinese art collector who bought two bronze sculptures at a Christie's auction says they were stolen from China and he is not paying.
A Chinese art collector says he was the winning bidder who bought two bronze sculptures in last week's sale of artworks belonging to the late fashion designer Yves St Laurent.
But Cai Mingchao, who bid 30m euros for the pair, said they should never have gone on sale and as a patriot, he would not pay up.
China says the relics are part of a collection looted from Beijing's Imperial Summer Palace in 1860 by British and French soldiers and they want them back.
