American Apparel goes plus size... for men only

Image

An American Apparel spin-off brand is launching a plus size line for men. Colossal Clothing is a new brand founded by someone who used to work for American Apparel and it's specializing in making the same styles for less emaciated frames. Why not make them for women, too?

I'm not sure this store will work, anyway. The name is already bad, Would you shop at a store called "Colossal Clothing"? any way Chiquita I'm sure you look beautiful with out shopping at the big Meanie's store...

    • Dear ColossalClothing, why would you hire a company like American Apparel that has a history of being anti-union, anti-women, and anti-gay?

And Current, why do advertisement posts like this one even see the light of day, it seems to go completely against what Current was created for.

    • In the name of propriety, let's compromise on SFB Clothing.

No, we're not AA. That rumor appeared to have started with the unkempt blog post, but they were kind enough to post a correction.

As long as we're talking, I'll tell you this: when you use the code: BIGANDTALL you get 10% off. Pass it on to your friends in SF. And say hi to the corner of 19th & Valencia, where I lived circa 1994. /DF

    • OK DAVE===>
      Five things:

      1) I am a Big guy... Being embarrassed is not in my nature.

      2) Very good that you responded. I'm glad that you are carrying clothing for men xl, xxl and so on. It being taken out of places like the GAP and Banana Republic.

      3) OK the article did say; An American Apparel spin-off brand is launching a plus size line for men. So is that not true?

      4) I live in San Francisco and there is a whole community of big men looking for clothes that fit and look good.

I laugh at most fashion because most people are a lot bigger than the models that are used.

      5) OH and lets not forget Tiny Little Girl? Is that the best you got? What about Sexy Fat Bastards.... I would wear that! LOL

    • Two things:

      1) Colossal Clothing is NOT American Apparel. We merely contract with them to make our clothes.

      2) RE our name, the word "colossal" connotes not just size, but also strength. Meaning, I can kick your ass, but I still have problems finding cool clothes.

It may surprise you to learn that not all big men are embarrassed by being big, and thus, our response from actual big men have been nothing but positive. But if it makes you feel any better, I'll consider changing the name to "Tiny Little Girl" clothing in the near future.

    • Well at least someone is thinking about the fact that Americans are getting bigger and not just fatter. So what a guy has a few extra pounds. Not every one is interested in loosing weight. BUT hold up wait a minute, hold up wait a minute... The brand is called "Colossal Clothing"? I may be thick but I will never wear clothing called Colossal. Is this some kind of weak joke?
