The various techniques and styles, history and appreciation are parts of this practical yet spiritual art form intricately bound to their rich culture. Mayumi Tomii began studying the art of Calligraphy at a young age. She trained extensively with a Shodo Master who had a vast collection of works by great Chinese and Japanese Calligraphers. After obtaining teaching certificates she moved to the United States thirty years ago. She intensively studied drawings, paintings and sculpture to further better her command and grace. She is now teaching Calligraphy in Philadelphia area. In this third part of the series, Mayumi demonstrates various styles of Japanese Calligraphy and also presents Waka poem writing.
