Have you ever been to a party that started off as great fun and then it was spoiled because someone made a remark that raised the ire of one of the guests and spoiled the rest of the time together? It used to happen when we had a gathering of family and friends because of differences in personal, political and religious opinions.
When we began thinking having another family party, along with the "when and where", the plans also included how quarrels between those attending could be avoided. Too often in the past, during a Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year's or other celebration, a chance remark would change the atmosphere from cheerful and loving into anger and bitterness.
