January 1 2010, another Fresh Start
Wow it seems like yesterday we were entering 2009, full of hopes and promises. To some they were fulfilled, to others every thing was cut short. As I age another year, resolutions dont seen as promising as they once did, so no more resolutions for the next year, however I also thought not to look back, and now know it is in the reflection that I grow and learn from. We are still at war, and now my sons fun loving classmate earned a Purple Heart, for her bravery, not overseas, but right here at Fort Hood. Wow that touched all of our hearts. Every other week our Fire Dept. Flag flies at half mask another child of ours is gone, and more have lost hope of a strong future, or have a patriotic pride instilled in them, that away they go. So young, so innocent, so real. If you ask me why I cant even answer that anymore. Does any one really know why anymore? What can I do about this? How can I make it better. I make a commitment to pray for our kids every day and write them letters and sew the camo quilts and be strong in front of their families. I will write my lawmakers and express my feelings in a constructive manner. Thank-you for this fresh start. Looking back, I got to meet Sarah Palin, a refreshing real woman, real, and yes a person who made mistakes, and then took personal responsibility for them. I now lost Michael Jackson, the first black person, I ever saw, whos family made me want to learn about the Black culture. And gained President Obama, who made me once agian interested in the Black culture. My fresh start is to really learn about the different cultures, expand my learning by hearing cultural music, eating different foods and stopping myself from pre judgment, get out of my neighborhood and see the world out there. Thank-you Michael for all the Peace and Love you expressed, and gracing my life again. And I will show respect for my President and teach my children to respect despite our different viewpoints. I will teach them civil liberties and the right way to have their voice heard. I have strayed away from my foundation, faith, which I now realize has had a profound effect on my attitude. I now need to get back to what is really important, to me and my family, and even my new friends I am going to meet this year, as I become that softer,kinder,giving person again. Thank-ful for every Blessing I am given, life, love and a calmness, instead of material items. I have that fresh start and this year will be my year.

So any kind of writing, be it poetry, short story, etc. is acceptable so long as it has the theme "fresh start"?
