Reid Peppard is probably the only person who feels a rush of excitement when she sees a dead animal lying on the side of the road. To her, it isn't a rotting carcass, but a thing of beauty just waiting to have life breathed into it. Peppard's London-based fashion line, RP/Encore, uses taxidermy to turn dead creatures, namely rodents and vermin, into wearable accessories. Many have serious issues with just how "wearable" her pieces are, however, which range from full-on rat headpieces to pigeon feather necklaces.

    • I don't wear fur... but these animals weren't killed with the intent on using them for fashion... they just died. So I can kind of see wearing it... But it's creepy and I wouldn't.

    • As an artist and vegetarian, Reid should be using the "Vermin Collection" as an exhibition to denounce the reality of the fur and leather trade, rather than selling the pieces as items for fashion.

    • Personally, I try not to wear or eat any animal products. I thought this was interesting because it's no different than an item made of leather, but it feels so much more disturbing.
