Early Burning Man arsonist out of jail, performing live
At Burning Man 2007 someone torched the namesake effigy five days early. During a lunar eclipse, the man was aflame. The structure was badly damaged, but in the following days they were able to replace it.
The arsonist was later identified as performance artist Paul Addis. Current TV had an exlusive interview with this Early Burner Man.
Addis was sentenced to jail in Nevada. He was just recently paroled.
San Francisco Bay Guardian reports:
Addis now says that he’s let go of his old grudges, describing a moment of clarity and peace that came over him while driving his motorcycle through the Nevada desert on his way back to San Francisco. He said that he feels most happy and alive when he’s on stage, a passion that he said sustained him while in prison, “so it’s imperative for me to get back to what I love doing.”
While incarcerated he wrote a live solo performance called Dystopian Veneer. It debuts at San Francisco's The Dark Room theater on April 30th.
Paul Addis talks about it in this video.
I bet that'll be an interesting show.
