In case you were under a rock last year, “nude” was a huge trend. (And honestly, it’s been trending – a little more under the radar – for a few years now.) It was also a huge debate topic for fashion bloggers around the net: we talked about it here at the Demoiselles, Jezebel called out Net-a-Porter (and, in 2008, Lucky), and more than a few of our blogging constitutes weighed in on whether the “beige = nude trend” was utterly racist, or if consumers were just overreacting.
Either way, you’d think that one of the biggest mid-price-point shoe designers would avoid the word like the plague, opting for “neutral,” “tan” or “beige.”
Nine West was, apparently, under the proverbial rock.
