Obama, who was already scheduled to meet Republican leaders this week, said he would call the opposition party back to the summit-style meeting after a congressional break between February 15 and 19.

Finally the president is doing what he should have been doing all along. Instead of negotiating with himself by ceding unwarranted ground to his opponents for the sake of bipartisanship he's taking the fight to them and making them defend their opposition to the actual substance of healthcare reform, both in idealogical terms, painting republicans as negotiating in bad faith and actually being against healthcare reform by pointing to their record, at no time when republicans controlled the legislative and executive branch or even the legislative have they proposed national health reform. Not in the more than sixty years such proposals have been debated have they made one serious attempt at providing care to those without insurance in this country or reducing cost to consumers. They have however been responsible for exorbitant drug prices, and only five years ago lied about the cost of their prescription drug benefit program, and saddled seniors with the infamous one hundred fifty billion dollar medicare doughnut hole subsidies to insurance agencies which literally do nothing! That's there record and they are running from it and against Democrats who have a firm footing to stand on. Be a stubborn Jackass Obama! Be the party ensign and do the job of leadership for both party and coutnry!
