A MAN could have died when a row over loud music exploded into violence.

Michael Smith, 44, was rushed to hospital with a fractured skull and severe brain damage after he was punched, kicked and stamped on.

He was in intensive care for 12 days and doctors believed that even if he survived the attack he would be left with significant mental problems.

But, miraculously, Mr Smith, has made good progress but still suffers from memory loss and needs ongoing psychotherapy.

    • Yes, the Bush regime does use loud (read as: deafening) music as a psychological 'tool.'

I think the escalation in violence is also driven by the afore mentioned regime's violent response to conflict, instead of diplomacy.

    • This is a pattern that seems to be repeating in different parts of the world, people resorting to violence to protect their so called right to be loud and obnoxious.

There have been many stories about such violent encounters. Just yesterday there was a story about a policeman who was shot in the head 4 times when he pulled a man over for excessive stereo noise and driving erratically; suspicion of driving while under the influence of intoxicants.

I think that there is a greater psychological phenomenon going on with relation to violence and noise.

Isn't using loud and continuous noise a form of torture used by the Bush Administration against detainees. I heard that they would blast heavy metal at the prisoners all night long and all day long for days on end.

Perhaps people think that if the BS administration can get away with being a bully, so can I.
