Check out this line by line rebuttal of her speech from the Obama campaign. The facts have a nasty way of getting in the way. Her speech is full of so many lies its hard to know where to begin.

    • Since her vetting is being done by the public, I fully expect the McCain campaign's embarrassments to continue. In some ways I get concerned about her debate with Biden because that's tricky territory. Joe Biden, though has an amazing record on writing and supporting terrific legislation pertaining to Women's Rights, so I think he will know the proper way to approach this. I also am waiting with anticipation to see how she holds up to national stage questioning, and yes debating on the world stage with something other than a teleprompter to argue with her.

I don't get all the praise for her speech. I, like any educated person can deliver an impassioned speech that has been prepared for me by a staff of 10 specialists. All one has to do is practice, work on gesticulation, impassioned delivery, and feigned eye contact by switching view from one teleprompter to the other.
Did anyone think her speech wasn't going to be a hit with the crowd of white, above 45 crowd?
She could have come out in a tinfoil hat and declared "Bananas are the enemy, save yourselves now!" and they would have lauded her for being a breath of fresh air, or for being that disgusting term, "out of the box"
Hey John how about untying her from the bedposts and let her try her abilities on Meet the Press or any show that may ask actual questions. Likely they will trot her out for a bucket of softball questions on Fox Noise. They will squeeze all the sunshine out of her ass that she can't get out on her own.

Haha, well before becoming disabled I worked as an Art Director, so I guess color is my game. But part of it was a nod to the style of jingoistic speech writing the republicans love. I have a stepfather who knows more cliche's than they have ever conceived of. If that homey style aw shucks delivery is all it takes to be VP I know a lot of guys sittin' in front of gas stations that can be Vice Presidential.

And before its said, it isn't smug to expect your President and Vice President to be intelligent rather than being a drinking buddy

    • Thank you to whomever alerted the Current staff of my post being full of spaces and some gibberish. That is what happens to me when I am at the keyboard and have a seizure. I wouldn't intend to post a bunch of nonsense, so it has been deleted.

    • What the *#*& is that big hunk of a Bear - Skin and head doing on her couch!? Not only is she over the top in her consevativism - she's an interior designing NIGHTMARE. Besides the horrible fact that she thinks it's cool that she or someone shot that animal, cleaned it out for presentation only so she can have it as a prop in her home. AAARRRGH!

I believe she fought that bear to the death, bear handed when she was a small republican child. The bear was in favor of abortion and she had to kill the poor creature to save the babies. (am I being too sarcastic?)

    • She's flashy and fresh and able to stir the hearts of the base... this is about politics (obviously) and nothing more.

McCain is doing what the Dems didn't put a woman on the ticket. This is to try to capture those who support Sen. Clinton.

We'll see how it plays out. But sweet Jesus on a bicycle, can the American voter not see through this???

    • I watched the RNC, because I want to know what the other side is up to.
Palin's speech is full of deceit and if you read between lines all they are saying is that they are going to destroy Alaska, and push renewable/green energy technology to the back burner until they kill progress completely. I could see the $$$$ signs lighting up their eyes. I might have not formed this opinion if Palin was saying that they would drill in Alaska, as a last resort, but that was the first thing out of her mouth in regards to the energy crisis. If we really wanted to get away from foreign oil, then we as a nation, parties aside, would invest 100% into green energy and get on with progress already! There is no excuse for this. We need to save what is left of our natural resources. If they get elected, be ready to fight to save Alaska. If Obama is elected, we will have to keep the pressure on him too, but I hope he might actually listen to what we desire as a nation.

    • I couldn't even watch all of the speech. Hubby and I had to turn the channel because we were arguing with the tv. She makes me sick to my stomach. I pray that the average person can see through her spider web of lies.

If McCain/Palin make it into office, we are in for even deeper shit. It is at that point that I will consider moving myself and my family to a different country.

Before my response, I implore you all to see the movie "Idiocracy", while being a comedy, it is also a chilling indictment of just where our "dumb it down" culture is taking us.

Yes of course, give me a know nothing any day over know it all. Since when did being a simpleton make someone not only endearing, but qualified for any job other than fry cook.

Have you ever interviewed someone for a job? Did you pick based on intelligence and qualifications, or how many home style clichés they could deliver?

    • "The fact that she divulged information regarding her son's deployment is not only incredibly ignorant, it's completely illegal. Her son's platoon has just been put at risk, as any attacks on her son could jeopardize his entire platoon. That very explicitly displays her knowledge of military conduct and foreign affairs."
An excellent observation on your part.

    • Dear God...anyone watching that woman's speech last night with any ounce of sanity must have noticed what complete nonsensical propaganda she spits. There was absolutely no validity to ANYTHING she said. I love David Plouffe's rebuttal to her statement, "I guess being a governor is kind of like being a community organizer, except you have actual responsibility." David rebuts, "Community organizing is how ordinary people respond to out-of-touch politicians and their failed policies.
      ."

Aside from that, nearly every point she made was completely out of context and opinion-based. I could not believe the crowd's response. I felt like I was watching a Nazi rally.

I found it funny that afterward when audience members were interviewed, none of them gave reasons for why she will do well. They have no idea who she is, what she is about, and what she is capable of.

And, the Republican strategy to keep her out of the lime light is to avoid any big-time press reporters so that she may avoid questions regarding foreign policy, as it would not be fair to her to have to answer such questions she does not have experience answering. Are you kidding? She's running for Vice President...not the PTA! You think the American people don't have the right to know how she would respond to some sort of foreign affairs crisis!? If she can't answer that, she very well should not be running along side any candidate.

The fact that she divulged information regarding her son's deployment is not only incredibly ignorant, it's completely illegal. Her son's platoon has just been put at risk, as any attacks on her son could jeopardize his entire platoon. That very explicitly displays her knowledge of military conduct and foreign affairs.

I hope her son does not die in war. That would be horrible for her to get the sympathy vote.

You know when I heard her say that about her son's deployment, I wondered about that. I don't know anything about military, but that seemed to be treading on dangerous waters. I was waiting to see if anyone else brought that up.

    • WOW. Almost speechless......it looks like she's just winging it when she makes decisions. i wonder if she even reads the proposals??? If McFag wins, first action he's gonna do is put drills all over Alaska and renewable energy will be virtually oblivious.

WHEW! its a scary thing to think that this stupid ass could be one of the top leaders of the united states.

    • ------"PALIN: “Our opponents say, again and again, that drilling will not solve all of America's energy problems - as if we all didn't know that already. But the fact that drilling won't solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all.”---------------

How about doing something effective instead of nothing at all? Why not make biodiesel and replace petroleum diesel? Why not make ethanol and replace gasoline? Why not replace coal with natural gas? It takes a LOT of petroleum to dig coal out of the ground and haul it all over the place, And we can mix biomethane right in with the natural gas so we use less. It is exactly the same stuff.

How about we use more wind and solar energy to replace petroleum for heating. Simple little electric space heaters run off of a grid with a high mix of wind, solar and hydro or geothermal energy ----- and we use a lot less heating oil, and the petroleum needed to transport it half way around the world and the amount needed to refine it.

How about conserving? Using less? Ration gas like WW2. We ARE in a war, remember? A war about oil. Even a 7 year old can figure that out. If it costs too much for gas to drive me to my friend's, can I take my bike?

Do we REALLY want a potential president whose ONLY answer to the most pressing problem facing this country for the last 8 years is "drill more because it is better than doing nothing?" That strikes me as the clearest indication of a completely blank mind I've ever heard of.

Do we REALLY want a potential president whose only idea after 8 years of problems is to do something that even she acknowledges would do NO good at all, because it is better than doing nothing. This sounds completely stupid to me.

      The article's content details why.
As a Democrat, it reflects how I feel about her, McCain and all who strive to get them elected.
