    • For the people out there who think that Cuba's revolution was motivated by a desire for socialism.... here you go. Cuba in the 1950s had the largest middle class in Latin America after Argentina. Poverty was not as widespread as Castro would have you believe.

      Fidel Castro had to lie to the Cuban people about his political plans for Cuba. He knew that the Cuban people would not support a communist. He betrayed the people and came out as a communist only AFTER he had taken the people's guns away in a series of night time and early dawn raids in 1960.

      Cuba's revolution was not out of the people's desire for communism, it was against the repression of Batista. Castro merely exploited it. His betrayal is here for everyone to see.

      So to those of you who admire him. Here he is... Doing what he does best.

      Some people here on Current admire what he has set up in Cuba. I would say the majority do not, but you should go into the comments section of the Vanguard episode on Cuba and many people defended the regime after the episode's journalism revealed less than nice things about what it is like to live in Cuba.

      It really surprised me. They said, "This Vanguard piece was biased, and it made Cuba to be a horrible place." I am from Cuba, and I couldn't disagree more with them. Look it up, I have it featured on the Cuba group page so you can watch it if you wish and see the comments.
