    • A pod that grants privileged access for the audience. The pod shows the difficulty in being part of the mafia and its detriments to relationship. The use of movie stills and scripts does make one wonder about our fascination and glorification of the gangster's lifestyle.

    • Cool pod! You have great archival footage, fantastic interviews, and a nice historical overview of the mob in America. While the broad overview approach is interesting, I would have like to have seen more attention paid to some of the individual characters and follow them a little more closely. Although I like the quotes from the various films as a guide for the pod, I really would have loved to hear what your interviewees had to see about the portrayal of the mob in modern media. It definitely would have tied the piece together. Overall, great job though.

    • It baffles me how Paulie Red is talking about real murders right on camera , the man really doesnt care it puts it in perspective that these guys are out there and its not a myth . Great pod

    • This pod takes us into the real world of the mob without all of the hype. The interviews are authentic straight from the source. I like how the filmmaker establishes NYC, juxtaposing the characters with fictional movie characters, and the use of the typewriter. It gave me the feeling as if for the first time these get to say what they want, without all of the judgment, the media caricature, the playing up to the hype, they were just being themselves. Great work, very professional

    • aside from all the powdered noses and dim lights of hollywood, it was nice to see a genuine retrospecitve on a violent and cruel world that is often mischaracterized for cash .. good work on this and keeping the 'current' vibe highlighting the reality of our collective storylines ..

    • One of my favorite Pods and Bobby Moresco is one current maverick i'd like to meet...
If you've watched The Sopranos, the Godfather films, or just been living anywhere other than a cave, you're probably pretty familiar with the idea of the Italian mob. Bosses are always vying for control or power while keeping the younger generation from taking over. But eventually the old guard gets whacked, dies out or gets sent away, then it's up to the new guard to keep "la cosa nostra" alive. The Sopranos don't seem so fictional after all.

    • loved this pod!! There is such a huge fascination with the American mob! The media loved to paint John Gotti as America's gangster. Doing everything for the neighborhood, but failed to capture what he really stood for...theft, murder and corruption! This pod painted an awesome picture of what life is like for an everyday knockaround guy...not very glamorous! take these guys to career day!! ha!

    • Everyone talks about how the movies portray the mafia. This section was in the pod for a long time. It came fairly early in the running time and we eventually cut it for pacing reasons. I ended up using some of the shots later in the pod when this section was cut out.
