No, not the plastic bags, the loose fitting pants, in 8 states.

Racial profiling? Yet another interference to our civil rights (dressing how we please as a method of self-expression)?

    • This whole debate over baggy pants is an outrage and a complete joke. Every generation has had its own style and this is not diffrent. People need to wake up and smell the coffee, theres more pressing issues in this world than an adolesents freedom of expresion.

    • wow. each generation gets picked on for what they wear, the music they listen to...only to grow up and pick on the next generation for the music they listen to and the clothes they wear.
don't take any of this too seriously. instead, when you get old and want to dis your kids, remember how it felt.

    • Amen to all of the above... Although, not a trend I understand, I can see what attracts the eye of a teenager to baggy jeans. Not only do their underpants show, but they continuously tug on their crotch area to lift the jeans leading to a feeling of masculinity. It's not just a form of expression but a form of identification with a certain aspect of being male. It's hilarious that they (city officials) would ban these jeans since it would make it hard for these supposed thugs to run away from cops, since they are pretty much saying if you wear baggy jeans you're more prone to committing crime or being a "gangsta".

    • baggy pants are another way for teenagers to rebel against society. It goes along with smoking and using slang as part of a style for young adults. Banning baggy pants is going a little too far though. If someone wants to look like a slob, so be it. In my school having your shirt tucked in got you some weird glances from your peers. This is no different then baggy pants. Without the pants your not considered part of the group. Do away with the legislature and let common sense work, pretty soon kids i'll get tired of tying their belt half way around their knees just to piss off thier history teacher.

    • Me too, ac. But I do want to tell those kids that as long as they're sagging, it's only showing how immature and *not* grown they are. But they just never listen!

    • In fact, I believe that it is the youth's job to challenge the norms of the their elders. It has always been something or another, and always will be.

For the record, I think it is the worst fashion trend I have ever seen. It represents the moment I knew I was "old." Kids today, I just don't understand them. ;)

    • This is ridiculous. While I do hate seeing some teenager's ass hanging out and laugh at them waddling around constantly hitching their pants up (note to the young'uns: IT'S NOT SEXY. YOU LOOK STUPID.) I think they can very well decide for themselves how they want to dress. I think it's an issue for the fashion police, not the ACTUAL police.

csuspect...satin pink jumpsuits would be rad. Just...rad.

    • When I was in school it was mohawks and shaved heads they were banning. In fact, I got suspended for shaving my head. This so called baggy pants epidemic is just a distraction from real news. The fact people even bring up racial profiling with this is silly. Just go to any mall and you will see loads of white kids also wearing baggy pants.

I bet if kids started growing moustache and wearing aviator glasses with satin pink jumpsuits, they'd have a problem with that as well.
