As an independent filmmaker, I wanted to showcase this unique art form as I think its one of my country's cultural traditions that should not die away. Within this effort I am showcasing some of the very few artists who continue to practice this art in the hopes of raising awareness and appreciation toward the talent and workmanship that goes into each one of these pieces.

Thank you so much for the response! It was interesting to hear what you had to say about Paraguay and how this is indeed an international topic with similar challenges in every region.

What a great surprise to find your piece. I am fascinated by traditional forms of art and the incredible knowledge and skill that has been passed down for generations to maintain the production of handmade, beautiful and useful items. Unfortunately, due to expanding technology and the availability of cheap products it is difficult to attract younger people to learn these intensive skills to make something that is not very lucrative.
I think it is very important to document and appreciate this work. I have been in love with the traditional crafts of Paraguay for many years and edited a small piece of an artisan who does silver filigree work there. Everyone who sees it is amazed at the skill and effort that goes into it.
I like the pace and tone of your piece that respects the lifestyle and dignity of the work.
