we've been making up words as we go uhmm.... forever...
but I agree, I use this in the World of Interweb but I would def not say meh in real life... just like I wouldn't say def. Dictionary worthy? word worthy? not so much.

First "Bah", then "Chill ax", Now "Meh" i love it. Were so diverse, we get to decide what makes it in the dictionary. :D)

I do not see what all the fuss is about, every language, including ours, changes with every generation.
Once, not long ago, hippy freaks changed the meaning of cool, and added groovy, and people were upset back then too. But seriously, do we all want to go around talking like Shakespeare? Or should we allow language to change as it is being used?
Makes sense to me.. so what is the opposite of meh, anyway?

Web users forging the new languages, "woot" and "meh" next I would presume would be "zerg" or "noob."
On another note, how long until Microsoft Word or web applications utilize these new words?

Have it in the dictionary, fine.
It does get frustrating trying to combat text speak in the education process, though.

I like this word and use it a great deal to express my indifference.
However, I feel it would be more appropriately located in a place such as the Urban Dictionary because it is not exactly a word, it is onomatopoeia. - 3 years ago

I think it's great that the dictionary is keeping up with the times. I love slang and onomatopoeias so I think this is awesome!
It's pretty snobbish to think this symbolizes some kind of "downfall of our education" or "brain dead" population just because we are recognizing common phrases. All words are made up, why should the dictionary discriminate?

apparently the threshold for needing a word in the dictionary is lower than ever... to celebrate the downfall of our education system, i propose a term of my own to be added:
YouTube: "the highest population of misinformed individuals anywhere in the known world. Users often educate and entertain themselves with millions of video's offering little substance, whilst having seemingly important debates with no evidence to support their stance. Also considered to be a major factor in the decline of western civilization and a catalyst for miseducation." cross reference " do the stanky leg"

There are really good videos on Youtube and I've found awesome bands via that site.
If I make a comment it's about the video not about someone's low IQ stance. I save those comments for forums such as these....however, I only make such comments to those that I actually think have brains. I don't bother with those that seem to be too extreme.

I guess when people cannot use the dictionary to see how to spell words correctly the answer is to just put any new, brain-dead, overly-used expression into the dictionary so we can all be on the same page. One more sign of decline.

I hate this word so badly. When somebody uses it, everything goes into slow motion for me.
Their chin presses against their neck and shockwaves ripple through the excess flab. Their eyes narrow and cross slightly, making them look deranged and sweat glistens on their top lip. Without fail and without even realising, they always flick their tongue out of their mouth like a lizard and catch the beads but because it's slow motion, billowing droplets of saliva hurl themselves into space in every direction. If it was in real time I could run away but instead I'm rooted to the spot and I can't do anything to stop that sludgey "meeeeyeeeeuuurrrrrhhhhh" sound slithering into my ears.
This word is the epitome of smug and I'll never, ever buy a dictionary again as a probably-ineffectual passive protest.

This is crazy, i Hate that word too!!!!!!! Its what literature would call a "dead word", this more than ever....it does really sound like someone shrugging something off or at a loss for words...like they couldn't just say something instead of this dumb lil noise? Pretty soon the english language will be permanently influenced with a dictionary of only words people use to text message.
